Mothers Day Weekend Recap


WOW! What a weekend. It was a lot busier than I expected with my little brothers birthday and my husband working all weekend (not by his choice, trust me).

Still we made it through and now its Monday. Aww, Monday. I am learning to love you but you don’t make it easy.

I do have a beautiful mothers day card and some pink roses (I love pink) sitting atop my kitchen sink at this very moment! And some leftover dinner in the fridge. My husband made me ‘on plan’ chili last night and it was sooooo delicious!

Even with the beautiful dinner I kinda fell off the wagon with my eating. Yeah, I was doing so good after my THM Weekend Menu Challenge, but I wanted to celebrate Mothers Day with extra fatty S treats and I so enjoy drinking wine in the evenings with my husband.

When I fall off the wagon I have a set of guidelines I follow, so I guess I don’t completely fall off? I allow myself to eat any and all THM approved foods but nothing else. I mix my E and S meals creating crossovers. I know I go over my carb count as well but I am okay with this.

I know I have gained a couple pounds but honestly it comes off much faster than when I don’t eat sugar laden foods. Also, I don’t have to detox from it in the following days. Sugar detox is not fun!

What I will do is simply begin again this Monday morning by separating my S and E meals and making sure I get my workouts and water in.

It will take me to the end of the week to lose the weight but the awesome part of this is I still feel great this morning! No food hangover, no icky feelings, no bloat. Just a little weight that will fall off in the coming days.

There was a time I didn’t offer myself this freedom and even though it was okay, its funner to let lose and not have the guilt every once in a while. It really doesn’t happen often.

My advice is if you splurge, stick to the THM approved foods. Don’t dig into sugar. There are so many yummy substitutes that you can sink your teeth into! Eat a little extra, have a few crossovers, enjoy a couple extra pieces of the fatty S desserts and then get back on schedule the next day! Its that easy!




Poop on my floor…

Showers are a sacred thing to me. I reflect, pray and often recharge through the warm cleansing water. So when my potty training toddler runs up to me during this sacred time and screams “mom, I need da go poop!” the frustration and chaos ensues.

I open the door of the shower and stare at my toddler wondering what in the world I can do.

“Go sit on the potty!” I say.

I wonder to myself if he can climb up there alone even with the stool that sits permanently in the bathroom.

Eli races out trying to squeeze his butt cheeks together.

“Danny! Help your brother!” I say.

I wonder if he can help Eli climb up and steady the potty seat for him. Heck, I wonder if Eli will let him!

And them comes the inevitable scream…


Uh. Motherhood is not for the faint of heart.

With my shower ruined and my floor violated, I remember that this will one day pass and I will actually miss these moments. Maybe not these moments in particular, even though it does make for a good laugh, now. And of course it helps that they are cute…

Patients sweet mamas. Learning to laugh at these situations takes practice. Just know the floor cleans, and your children, though messy, need your love and patience.


Hard Seasons

It’s easy to forget when going through a hard season the stress and tole it takes on my mind and body.

When these hard times hit they come out of nowhere. They shock and surprise and instantly effect my mind, body and day to day activity.

Can you relate?

Going from a season of relaxation to one of difficulty changes things but I try my hardest not to let effect my life.

I try and fit what I normally do in a day in with the chaos that has just ensued. This chaos may not effect what I do in that day, but effects my mind and how it operates. It effects my energy, my excitement, and over all mood. Its draining thinking on a situation, how to fix it, how to change it, what you should have done, why its happening… All these things play over and over again and its exhausting to say the least.

When disaster strikes we are not suppose to stop everything we are doing, that’s not what I am saying. What I am mean is be realistic with how it is effecting you and be gracious with yourself.

Others friends may be full steam ahead in business, plans, goals or life in general and there you are, paddling your hardest trying so hard to keep up. Not wanting to get left behind.

Friends, I know this feeling all to well. That is when God comes to my rescue and sends angles like Sandie Krakowski to post something like this:


When you go through hard seasons in life, sometimes, MAINTAINING where you are is the most POWERFUL thing you can do. #StayBrave You don’t always have to grow and expand. Through difficult seasons, STAND TALL and hold things together. That’s incredible! #BeMore

While reading this I broke into tears. I knew this was a loving message from God above telling me, “You, sweet Lesly, are doing enough.”

To hear that from the God of the universe, to feel Him tough my soul and speak to the heaviness on my heart… Beautiful.

Pushing myself always drives me to madness. My temper gets short, my days get long, the joy is stolen all because I am pushing myself harder than I should and why? Is there not enough to learn just by watching and teaching my children? By being a wife? A friend? A daughter of God?

Maybe you didn’t get your to-do list done but that doesn’t mean you were not productive. It doesn’t mean you didn’t learn and grow in some way.

So when you find yourself in a hard season remember its okay, perhaps even best, to slow down and maintain speed for a time. Maybe there is something else God is trying to teach you. Keep moving forward yes! But know your mind and body can only handle so much stress. It does effect you, as much as we don’t want it too. Seek God, as for help, direction and peace. Ask Him to show you the way.

Its hard putting dreams and ambitions on the back burner but sometimes there is something we need to learn before moving forward. Remember, God only teaches us what is in our best interest. Trust His divine wisdom because He knows the future.

And you will need this:

My Chocolate Protein Smoothie.

Put the following ingredients into a blender:
1 cup Cashew Milk
2 Tbs. Natural Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
4 packets Truvia
1 squirt Skinny Girl Liquid Stevia
1 tsp. Caramel or Vanilla Extract
1 scoop THM Pristine Whey Protein Powder
6 cubes of ice or more depending on how thick you like your smoothies.
